FUN DAYS

Sessions generally run weekly with a limit of 24 children, 10am to 2pm on most weeks during school holidays. Most suited to primary aged children (4-10yrs). Children in their Pre-school year would normally be 4 and well known to us to be left. There may be spaces available for accompanied younger children depending on numbers.

A big "Thank You" for your support of the Fun Days over the holidays in 2023. We raised over £1500  for the Kemerton Conservation Trust last year and hope to do the same this year.

What is Forest School?

Forest School is based on an idea that originated in Scandinavia, using the outdoors as a learning environment. Bredon Forest School has been running since 2002 and provides exactly that learning environment in a safe, outdoor 'classroom', located in a secluded private woodland only two miles from Bredon.

Activities include hide and seek, den building, picture making, bug hunting, collecting and sorting, singing, listening, observing growth and decay, noting changes in seasons, leaf printing, tree rubbing and many more.

Ropes, swings, slides & climbing frames along with wooden houses for the 3 Bears, Goldilocks & Red Riding Hood's Granny all add to the imaginative and physical play of the children.

Materials can include mud, sticks, logs, leaves, stones, twigs, string, collecting boxes, magnifying glasses, tarpaulins, books, pictures, paper, charcoal, sand, water... and plenty of imagination!.

Sessions are provided on a regular basis for local schools, playgroups and child-minder groups. Other groups arrange visits on a more casual basis.

Holiday 'fundays' are not structured activity sessions by adults. Primary aged children are encouraged to make new friends and play and explore using resources provided. They can build dens, climb obstacle courses, play on ropes & swings or create art with natural materials etc. Adult supervision of tools and crafts available when needed.

Bredon Forest School is not a business but is run by volunteers for the benefit of local children and nature conservation. Funds raised are mainly used to support Kemerton Conservation Trust, as well as covering our insurance, training & resources. If you are interested in volunteering please contact Owl.
